FOSTER BOTANICAL GARDEN

 

Medicinal Plants Tour

             Learn about the plants and trees that were utilized as natural remedies before modern medicine.

Qi Gong by "Art of Jason Qi"

             Qi Gong is the mother to traditional Chinese arts such as Tai Ji Chuan.  Qi Gong is appropriate for all fitness levels

             and is used to improve breathing, digestion, relaxation and pain reduction.

             When:  Sundays: Speteber to December and Mondays: October to December                                                                        

             Time:  9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

Recycled Art

             Create a Halloween skeleton using gallon plastic milk bottles.  Materials will be provided.  Helpful to bring craft

             scissors and a hole punch.

LILI`UOKALANI BOTANICAL GARDEN

 

Lili`uokalani Nu`uanu Stream Clean-Up Service Project

              Come clean Nu`uanu Stream inside Lili`uokalani Botanical Garden. A great community service project!  HBG will provide

              garbage bags and gloves, but you may bring your own.  Need to wear covered shoes or boots.

              Call 621-5463 to schedule service projects for your group. 

 

 

 

 

HO`OMALUHIA BOTANICAL GARDEN

 

Ho`omaluhia Botanical Garden will be celebrating World Rainforest Week, October 10 to 16, 2010, with a month-long focus on rainforest-origin plants and products in our daily lives.  Also, for the month of October, an art exhibit and guided nature walks will be held to promote knowledge and awareness of rainforest treasures. 

 

 Family Fishing at Ho`omaluhia Botanical Garden

               Come with your family to fish and enjoy the outdoors at Ho`omaluhia Botanical Garden.  This catch and release program

               is fun for everyone.  Recommended:  walking shoes, insect repellent, rain gear, and fishing supplies (barbless hooks).

               There istwenty (20) minute hike to the fishing area.

               When:   Saturdays and Sundays                        Time:  10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Botanical Drawing and Painting Sessions - Self  Directed

               Actual rendering of plants, flowers, seeds and pods from the garden.  Bring your art supplies,: #4 round brush, Bristol

               paper,and quality watercolor set of watercolor pencils.  Some experience in watecolr and drawing helpful.

               When:  Wednesdays                                          Time:  9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Preschool Nature Hour

             Sessions will include reading  stories, a nature craft and a garden walk.  For ages 3 to 5.  Participants are encouraged

             to bring a picnic lunch for after the program.  Come prepared for rain, mud and mosquitoes: covered shoes

             recommended.

Engraving Room Volunteer

The trees need names!  Assist the Botanist with plant labeling for the gardens.  Labels are created using a rotary engraver and computer.  If you enjoy working with machinery, this is the volunteer opportunity for you.  Please call 621-5463 for more

Grab the family and take a walk through our enchanted spooktacular forest.  Your journey will take you by phantoms in the trees, a haunted cemetery and ghouls around a cauldron.  You might even catch a glimpse of the mysterious Green Lady.
