Since the initial stages of the project, the project team has undertaken a public     outreach effort to solicit the input of the community, major stakeholders, and other     interested groups and organizations.    "Talk Story" Neighborhood Meetings           The WLCP Project Team recently conducted a series of  five neighborhood    meetings to update the Waikiki community on the status of the Waikiki Livable    Community Project.      The meetings were conducted in late April and May 2003, and flyers were    mailed to all residents of Waikiki informing them of the date, time and place of    the meetings.                                   Workshop participants included residents, business leaders, political leaders,    and other individuals involved in the Waikiki community.  Participants were    encouraged to join discussion groups that reviewed the Street Visions and    Livability Elements for the various corridors.  Each group was led by a workshop    facilitator and group notes were recorded.  Participants gave their reactions and    "brainstormed" ideas to assist the project team.    Public Workshop       A Public Workshop was held at the Waikiki Beach Marriott Hotel on October 29,    2002.  Group sessions for the public that introduced various project    concepts for the major street systems and transportation corridors in Waikiki was    held on the evening of October 28th before the Workshop.       A major effort was made by the project team to advertise the Workshop through    flyers, postcards, and a newspaper ad in the daily paper      Workshop participants included residents, business leaders, political leaders,    and other individuals involved in the Waikiki community.  Participants were    encouraged to join discussion groups that reviewed the Street Visions and    Livability Elements for the various corridors.  Each group was led by a workshop    facilitator and group notes were recorded.  Participants gave their reactions and    "brainstormed" ideas to assist the project team.      Note: PDF files require the Acrobat Reader from Adobe Systems, Incorporated.  Acrobat and Acrobat logo are trademarks of Adobe Systems Incorporated.  Click on the icon below to go to Acrobat site to download.
